Named Male Athlete of the Year at the Block G Awards banquet his senior year Matt excelled at lacrosse, football and basketball at Geneva High. A four year varsity lacrosse letter winner at midfield Matt was a two-time 1st team all-league selection while leading the Panthers in assists for three years. He was named to the Section V all-tournament team twice. He was also a two time Empire State Games player. Matt played quarterback and defensive back on the football team and was a two time all-league selection. He was named Finger Lakes East Player of the Year as well as a 2nd team All-Greater Rochester selection his senior year. He was also chosen to play in the Eddie Meath All-Star game that year. A three year varsity basketball player he was named 2nd team all-league. Matt served as team captain for all three sports.
Matt went on to Penn State University on a lacrosse scholarship where he played in every game of his career (54 games, 19 career starts). He played midfield and collected 80 career groundballs. He was named to the Academic All-Big Ten team and served as team captain his senior year. He graduated from Penn State in 2009 with a BS in Business-Supply Chain and Information Systems. Matt has since helped coach lacrosse at Geneva High as well as serving as a youth coach in Perth, Australia and Chicago, Illinois.
