A standout in lacrosse Bill was named 1st team All-Finger Lakes his senior year while leading the league in scoring and goals. He set a Geneva High School single game record with 9 goals against Waterloo in 1992 a record that was later tied by Mike D'Amico when Bill coached him at Geneva. He was also all-league in his junior year. He also lettered in soccer and golf. Bill was a four year starting goalie on the Geneva Generals Hockey team and was a member of the 1991 NYS Championship Midget ''C''.

Bill went on to Hobart where he posted a 22-6 record as starting goalkeeper. He had 324 career saves and over 100 career ground balls, He was a member of the 1993 Division III NCAA National Championship team and the 1994 Division III finalist. In 1993 he was named the Rookie of the Year. Bill was honored at Hobart with the Lt. John Vanderberg '50 Award, and the Herbert J. Welker '41 Award. After graduating in 1996, Bill went on to play professional lacrosse in Canada and the United States. He also coached on many levels, including Geneva High serving as the head coach for three years reaching the sectional semi-finals in 2002 and the finals in 2003 and 2004. He coached two All-Americans at Geneva. He was the head coach at Division I Hartford and served as assistant coach at Hobart, Old Farms School in Avon, CT and the Rochester Rattlers. Bill went back to his college alma mater where he works today in admissions.
