An outstanding goalie, Guy was a two-time All-American at Geneva High and a three-time All-American at Hobart College. Guy was a 1st team all-league goalie his junior and senior years at Geneva and a 2nd-team selection as a sophomore. His play in goal helped Geneva capture three league titles In his senior year he was named to the All-Section V tournament team.

Guy went on to Hobart where he was the starting goalie on four National Championship teams and was named the USILA Player of the Year in his senior year. He was twice named as the Division III goalie of the year. Guy was an alternate on the 1982 USA lacrosse team and played in the North-South game in 1983. He was named team MVP in 1982 and 1983. Guy was inducted into the U.S. Lacrosse Western NY Chapter Hall of Fame in 1996 and the Hobart Hall of Fame in 2001. He has coached on the collegiate and professional level and is currently and assistant coach at Penn State.
