Kellie was the New York State Girl's Amateur Champion in 1982 and the New York State Women's Amateur Champion in 1986. After graduating from Geneva High in 1983, where she was a member of the golf team, she attended Furman University in Greenville, S.C., and played four years of Division I Women's golf. During her senior year at Furman, the team finished second in the nation at the NCAA finals.

After college, Kellie played professionally for five years on several tours around the world including the Futures, the European, the Asian, the South African and Australian. She has been teaching for over 15 years and presently teaches at Atlantic Golf Club in Bridgehampton, New York, during the summer months and Palm Beach Golf Course in Palm Beach, Florida, in the winter months.

Kellie is a Golf for Women magazine Top-50 teacher and rated by Golf Digest as one of the top teachers in the state of New York. In 2009 Kellie was named one of the Top 100 Teachers in the nation by Golf Magazine.
