Guy Spader had a positive and lasting impact on the students he taught and coached during his 36 year career at Geneva High. A graduate of Morrisville-Eaton Central School, Guy was a four year starter on the varsity football, basketball, and baseball teams. After receiving an honorable discharge from the U.S. Marine Corps in 1946, Guy went to Colgate University where he lettered in baseball and was offered a contract with the New York Giants farm system but turned it down to teach at Geneva High.

Guy was the Director of Athletics at Geneva for 25 years and coached varsity baseball for 22 years with a 260-104 record. His baseball teams won twelve league championships and two Section V Class AAA championships. Guy also coached varsity basketball winning five league championships over 19 years. He served as President and Executive Secretary-Treasurer of the Finger Lakes High School Athletic Association. Guy was the president of the Geneva Babe Ruth league. He was a pitcher and a catcher on the Geneva Redbirds for four years. Highly respected, Guy received honors from the NYS Coaches Association and Section V.
