A 1926 graduate of Geneva High, Jiggs starred on lacrosse teams which lost only two games in four years. His most distinguishing characteristic was his versatility. He started, at one time or another, at every skill position on the football team. As a sophomore he was captain of the basketball team which won their league championship. In his junior year, he scored, passed for, or set up eight of the twelve panther touchdowns in Geneva High’s first winning season in several years. During his senior year he was the quarterback for the varsity team which only lost one game.

Jiggs went on to Hobart College where he was awarded three varsity letters in lacrosse. He played attack his sophomore and junior years. As a “rookie” goalie his senior year he allowed only 2.56 goals per game, third lowest in Hobart’s 100 year history of lacrosse. He also lettered in football at Hobart. Upon graduation from college Jiggs was the goalie on Geneva’s initial box lacrosse team for two years, compiling a record of 32-5 in goal. He then went on to both coach and referee lacrosse.
