Steve returned to his alma mater as a teacher, athletic director, and girls basketball coach. His basketball teams won three sectional and three league titles as well as a western regional title over 20 years. He was voted the Section V Class D coach of the year six times and Finger Lakes West coach of the year four times. His 1985 team, which reached the semi-finals of the state tournament, was elected to the Geneva Sports Hall of Fame in 1999. Steve also coached the Geneva High varsity girl’s basketball team for eight years and upon his retirement from coaching was honored by the Central Western Board of Girls Basketball Officials with their Service Award. He has also received honors from the NYS Coaches, the Women’s Basketball Coaches and the NYS Basketball Coaches Associations.

Steve was one of the early members of the Geneva Sports Hall of Fame board of directors serving since 1989 and is currently the secretary for the organization. He played football at DeSales for Geneva Sports Hall of Fame coach Harry Furman. Steve earned a bachelor’s degree in business from St. John Fisher and a masters degree in education from Nazareth. He taught economics and global studies at Geneva High. Steve retired in 2018 after a 43 year career. He taught at DeSales HS for 25 years and Geneva HS for 18.
