Jim is a 1991 graduate of DeSales High School where was a four-year letter winner in baseball, basketball and football. Jim’s baseball teams at DeSales won league and section five titles in all four years. The baseball team compiled a 62-5 record, including a 47 game winning streak. He was an all-league catcher.

Jim was a captain his senior year in basketball. He won a NYS basketball coaches award in 1991 and was part of the class D sectional championship team in 1989. In football Jim was the captain of the team in 1990 and won the Matthew O’Hanlon Memorial Award as a running back and linebacker.

At Hobart College from 1992-1995, Jim was a four-year letter winner in baseball. He had a career batting average of .328 with 115 hits, 88 runs scored and 63 RBI. Jim was the captain of the team in 1995 and received the rookie of the year award in 1992. His Hobart team won the ECAC championship in 1991. Jim was named to the Division 3 all region team in 1994 and 1995. Jim won the Block H most improved baseball player in 1994. His career at Hobart was capped by being named the Ted Silver ’39 Memorial Award Winner in 1994-95. This prestigious award was given to a member of the Hobart baseball team whose scholarship, sportsmanship and perseverance had proved to be superior.
