Golf
Inducted Class of 1995
Dr. Charles J. Mascari brings to the Geneva Sports Hall of Fame a total quality of competitiveness, professionalism, and integrity to the game of golf in Geneva. A graduate of DeSales High School in 1931, he participated in football and after high school, American Legion baseball. After his graduation from dental school with a D.D.S. degree in 1938, Doc entered the U.S. Army where he began his golfing career in 1942. During that period until 1945 when he was honorably discharged, Doc began to develop that sweet swing that continues today. In 1948 Doc was invited to play with another fellow dentist by the name of Dr. Cary Middlecolf.
Returning to Geneva to open his private dental practice, Doc continued to improve his game and in 1953, just ten years after taking up the game of golf, he won the Geneva City Golf Championship. In that same year, he won the Seneca Lake Country Club Championship. On three other occasions, Doc was the medalist in the City Championship. Highly respected in the dental community, Doc has been invited to speak at numerous seminars.
