Allie, a 1969 graduate of DeSales High, had a superb career in baseball and basketball. As a four year starting pitcher on the baseball team he had a 24-5 record. In one of his five losses he pitched a no-hitter. He helped lead the team to two league championships and led the team and league in strikeouts. He was the team MVP his junior and senior years. His sophomore year he was a pitcher on the State Championship Babe Ruth team. Allie was a three-year letterwinner on the basketball team and led his team in scoring and assists his junior and senior years. He was a 2nd-team all-league as a junior year and a 1st-team selection his senior year.

After National League tryouts with the Phillies and the Pirates he chose to attend college at Oswego State. At Oswego he was a three-time All-Conference selection. Allie was an All-American selection in 1971. In the ’71 season he led Oswego in batting and runs scored. . After college, Allie played semi-pro for the Water-Falls Cardinals for three championship seasons and was named the MVP in 1974.
