Edmund capped a three-sport high school career by earning first-team all-league recognition in football, basketball, and lacrosse as a senior. In his senior year he caught 23 passes and scored six touchdowns in football and led the basketball team in scoring (15.5 ppg, fourth in the league) and rebounding (11 rpg). He was an All-Greater Rochester honorable mention selection. Edmund was a three year starter at first base on the baseball team and had a batting average of .476. He was a unanimous 1st-team all-league selection his senior year and was 2nd-team all-league as a junior. Edmund was awarded the Joe Deledonne Memorial Award and the Student Council Sportsmanship Award at the Block G.
Edmund went on to Monroe Community College where he graduated with an associate’s degree in business. He played baseball for two years and was named team captain his second year. Edmund was a 1st team all-conference selection both two years at MCC and an all-region selection his 1st year. He led the team in homeruns and stolen bases his second year. Edmund went on to Brockport and graduated with a bachelor’s degree in sports management in 1991. Edmund is a third generation Hall of Famer. His grandfather Edmund Hickey Sr. is in the Ithaca College and the Catholic HS (Troy) Hall of Fame and his dad Edmund “Ned” Jr. is in the LaSalle Institute (Troy) Hall of Fame.
