Tom has won 17 of the 29 Geneva Country Club Championships he played in while finishing second 10 times and third twice. He twice tied the course record of 66 before setting the record of 65 in 1991. Tom won his first club championship in 1969 and has gone on to win championships in four different decades. His lowest handicap was 2 He has eagled all but two of the holes at Geneva Country Club and has had three holes in one.
Tom also played golf, basketball, and baseball at Geneva High. In 1963, his senior year he won the Baroody Award which is given to a student-athlete who excels in athletics, academics, sportsmanship, and citizenship. He went on to SUNY Brockport where he was a member of the golf team. He retired after a long teaching career in the Marcus Whitman School District.
