One of the most accomplished lacrosse players to hail from this area, Matt helped the Geneva win its first sectional title in seven years. He was the team captain his senior year and was named to the Section V All-Tournament lacrosse team three times. He was also outstanding on the gridiron as well. As a senior he captained the football team, earned All-Greater Rochester honors and was picked to play in the Eddie Meath all-star game. A scholar-athlete Matt was the recipient of the Vietnam Veterans of America Chapter 20 Scholarship.

Matt played two years of college lacrosse at Loyola before transferring to Johns Hopkins. He played on NCAA semifinalists at both schools. At Hopkins, he was the recipient as most improved player in 2001 and the Kelly-Turnbull Award winner for his outstanding leadership in 2002. Matt played midfield and attack for the Denver Outlaws of the Major League Lacrosse for three seasons. In his final year he scored six goals in one game against Los Angeles and was selected to play in the 2008 MLL All-Star game that year.
An educator and a coach, Matt teaches history and overseas the lacrosse program at Cristo Rey Jesuit H.S. in Baltimore, MD.  Matt recently started a non-profit that works with young men in inner-city Baltimore, called the Next One Up Foundation. Matt’s dad Mike is a member of the Hobart Hall of Fame.
