One of the most versatile all-around athletes in school history, Ray earned 10 varsity letters in football, basketball, track, and cross country. In his senior year he was awarded the Baroody Memorial Award and was named Geneva High School’s outstanding athlete. He graduated with a 4.0 grade-point average. Rennie graduated in 1950.
Ray went on to St. Lawrence University on a basketball and baseball scholarship. During his senior year there he broke the school’s single game scoring record for basketball. After college Ray turned down an offer to play professional baseball and instead went to earn his master’s Degree in Mathematics. He worked for GTE from where he retired after a successful career in the emerging wireless phone field.
