An outstanding lacrosse player, Scott had the distinction of playing on a national championship team at both the junior college and Division I level. Scott played four years of varsity lacrosse at Geneva High and received the Covert Award in his junior and senior years. The award is given to the player that displays exceptional athletic ability, good sportsmanship and is respectful to teammates and opponents. He was chosen team captain twice and was named to the Section V all-tournament team in 2000. Scott also lettered in football and basketball, and was a two-year starter at quarterback in football.
Scott attended Hobart College where he played football and lacrosse for one year before transferring to NJCAA lacrosse powerhouse Herkimer. While playing at Herkimer, Scott received Academic All-American and 1st-team All American Honors in 2003. That year he led Herkimer to an 18-0 season and a NJCAA National Championship. He earned tournament best defensive players honors and was named the NJCAA Defensive Player of the Year. Scott earned a scholarship to Syracuse University and started on defense during the 2004 and 2005 seasons. In 2004 Syracuse won the NCAA Division National Championship by defeating Navy 14-13. In 2005 Scott was chosen as one of the team’s tri-captains and earned All American honors. Scott was chosen to start and captain the North squad in the Division I North/South all-star game.
Scott started playing indoor lacrosse in Canada with great success, helping the Canadian Six Nations Junior A (2004) and Onondaga Redhawk (2005) teams to championships. After College he was drafted by the Rochester franchises in the indoor and outdoor franchises. He played for the 2007 National Lacrosse League champion Knighthawks and earned a bronze medal that year as a member of Team USA at the World Indoor Lacrosse Championship. He is entering his fourth season in the NLL after taking last year off.
