A three-sport athlete, Joe was named All-Conference in baseball, basketball, and football in his junior and senior years. He served as captain on all three teams and was the recipient if the Rogers Award as the MVP of the football team and the Baroody Memorial Award which id given to a student athlete who excels in athletics, grades, sportsmanship, and citizenship.
A three-year starter on the baseball team, he batted .383 as a sophomore, .348 as a junior, and .433 his senior year. He helped lead the Panther’s to three league titles and two sectional champions. He played shortstop, second and third base; as well catcher and pitcher Joe also led the basketball team I scoring and assists his junior and senior years. A 1959 graduate of Geneva High, Joe graduated from SUNY Brockport where he received a B.S. in Economics. Joe was very active in his community coaching youth league sports.
