David Brind was an exceptional young man who thoroughly enjoyed fishing from an early age. He graduated from Geneva High School in 1978 and attended Union College until his death in February of 1981. He was the youngest participant ever in a Bassmasters Classic Tournament in 1979. He achieved ten first place rankings in professional tournaments from 1977 to 1980. David was a national champion in 1979 and a N.Y. State champion 1979 and 1980.
He was a member of the Bass Angler’s Sportsmen Society (B.A.S.S.); Poor Boy Bass Association; New York State Bass Federation; Barge Canal Bassmasters. In 1980 he received a trophy for the largest (853 lbs.) giant blue fin tuna caught while deep sea fishing. David enjoyed swimming, scuba diving, water skiing, hunting, golf, basketball and tennis. He was only 20 yrs. old when he died in a boating accident February 21, 1981.
