A 1920 graduate of Geneva High School, Ted was an all-around athlete excelling in basketball, football, and baseball. He was a center and the leading scorer on the basketball team and a running back and punter on the football team.

After high school, Ted played semi-pro basketball with the Geneva Eagles as their center. Ted was an exceptional athlete: a high jumper, and a high scorer. Later Ted coached and played on the Newark Elks with Rochester Royals’ stars Al Cervi, Fuzzy Lavine, and Red Holtzman. Ted’s adult life was spent in Newark, New York, where he served as mayor for two terms.
