Sam Baroody graduated from Geneva High in 1945 where he lettered in cross country, tennis, track, basketball, and football. In 1950, he graduated from Ithaca College where he played basketball, football, and lacrosse. He was co-captain of Ithaca College’s first lacrosse team. He also served as an assistant coach at Ithaca College coaching football and lacrosse in 1951. Sam was introduced to lacrosse by his uncle, George “Ebo” Alberts in 1947 with whom he played on the Geneva Box Lacrosse teams from 1952 to 1955. He also played on the Maryland Box Lacrosse Club and in 1984 was one of the first inductees into the club’s Hall of Fame.

Sam shared his love of lacrosse with the youth in the Kingsville and Perry Hall, Maryland communities where he served as a recreational coach for 14 years. He won many awards including the Maryland State Junior Boys Lacrosse Championship in 1975, one year after starting a 13-15 boys’ program in Kingsville. He is well respected for his work with the youth in those communities.
