An important leader on the 1978 track and field team Jack’s performance in the mile relay helped propel the team to a sectional title. “In the 1978 Section V Championship, Jack had one of the most impressive feats ever performed by a Geneva High athlete”’ according to his coach Mike Canale. In the mile relay Jack ran a sub-48-second split as the Panthers’ anchor, coming from behind to pass Monroe High School’s Calvin Magee, a future NCAA Division I star. “I will never forget it” stated Coach Canale. The 1978 track and field team was inducted into the Hall of Fame in 2002.

Jack was undefeated in the 220 yard dash his senior year and was the league and sectional champion in the 220, 880 Relay, and Mile Relay.  He still holds the school record in the 220 with a 22.4 seconds run. He was also the league champion in the 880 relay and mile relay in as a junior. Jack was also an all-league performer in football as a wide receiver and defensive back. He scored several touchdowns on pass receptions, kickoff returns, punt returns and interceptions. He captained both the football and track teams his senior year. He later served as an assistant football coach at Romulus and DeSales.
