Joe Abraham

Joseph N. Abraham
Athletic Trainer
Inducted Class of 2002

A 1937 graduate of Geneva High, Joe served as a trainer for the United States Olympic Team in both the 1968 and 1972 Summer Games. He was also selected five times for North-South All-Star Lacrosse Game. Joe was inducted into the Helms Athletic Trainers Hall of Fame, the Ithaca College Hall of Fame and the Hobart College Hall of Fame. He was presented a Distinguished Alumni Citation from Hobart College, and an Honorary Degree of Doctor of Humane Letters from Hobart College. He was also awarded the Thomas Sheehan Award as the outstanding athletic trainer in New York State.

Those who knew Joe knew him as a fairly crusty guy, who above all, was going to make sure that the job was going to be done right. This is why Joe made such a reputation as a trainer and why Joe did so well as the successor to Bill Stiles as Athletic Director of Hobart College. The honors Joe received probably established him as something of an institution at Hobart College. Beyond that, Joe cared deeply for the young people he served.
