The 1974 DeSales Baseball team defeated Oakfield-Alabama to win the Section V Class B Championship. By virtue of its win, they became the first parochial school to win a Section V championship in any sport. That was the first year that parochial schools were allowed to compete in the sectionals. Pitcher Dan Murphy shut down O-A with a one hit, 13 strikeout performance. The Saints coached by Bob Davie compile a record of 19-1 and captured their fourth straight Finger Lakes West title. Members of the team included John Bucklin, Rich Castor, Mark Fragnoli, Don Graham, Dan Hennessey, Mark Liberatore, Dan Murphy, Ron Passalacqua, Greg Phillips, Lou Quethera, Dave Rickey, John Salone, John Serafine, Al Sroka, and Gary Taras.
